Leather Care

General Care

To better maintain your furniture's quality, we recommend that you purchase the Guardian leather protection plan. Although not appropriate for all leathers such as unfinished leathers like suede or nubuck, we suggest you use Guardian's protection cleaner and conditioner which can be purchased online. Your Sales Associate can advise which products are safe for certain leathers. View our leather glossary to learn more about various types of leathers.

Periodically clean leather with a dry cloth to remove residual dust and to prevent dirt buildup. Vacuum, as necessary, to remove excess dust. Leather furniture should be protected from exposure to sunlight and heat, which may cause the leather to fade or to lose its soft, supple feel.

Spots, Spills, and Stains

If you purchased the Guardian protection plan, you should blot the area with a dry cloth and contact our Customer Relations Representative (865-219-2705 or claims@shopinbliss.com) who can guide you through Guardian's process. If you do not have the Guardian protection, we suggest that you follow the advice below. Most liquids initially will be repelled by leather but will be absorbed if left standing over an extended period of time. Blot liquid immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge. Butter, oil, or grease spills should be wiped with a clean, dry cloth. These spots should dissipate into the leather in a short period of time. Do not use saddle soaps, oils, abrasive cleaners, perfumed or dyed soaps, furniture polish, varnish, detergents, or ammonia. Do not use harsh cleaners or solvents as they can abrade the finish or topcoat of the leather.
